you can google deamon thrust to see a picture of my sons car he built for his school project the school has a ev event every year and we go to help out and use our car for show and tell as he wone a lot of the events his year they have a drag race and weight sled pull ,obstical corse, car show and endurance all out runn for an 1 hr we are using a taylor dunn motor and will be running 36 volts this year we originaly used a vw starter motor and belt drive we are giong to chain drive and will be using soleniod drive speed

Going from 12v to 36v will be wild, hope you have brakes that will stop it.

yep you got we did 24 volts last year it was ok but not fast as the starter motor ran but last year we used a differnt motor we had some aliment problems the shaft kept coming out of the motor end as it was a yamha style so it had no bearing support on the end of the shaft so it would work its way out of the splines but this year will be much better

If you are interested, there are motors with both ends on them or you may even be able to get an endbell for the one you have.
If you have a 24v motor you should be able to put 36v or 48v to it if it doesn't overspeed.

the motor last year was a 36 volt but we only used 24 volts as the car had two batterys installed so this year we will be adding one more
