  • Golf Cart Seat Warmer - Heater Alternative

As the warm days of summer slowly give way to those crisp cool nights, there's this certain feeling that comes with cruising around in your cart. You start out your day with the sun shining and feeling the warmth on your skin, but before you know it, the day turns to night and the air turns cooler, and suddenly, you're wishing you had something to take the edge off. We've all been there. Enjoying a perfect evening ride, only to realize too late that the drop in temperature caught us off guard. It’s those moments when you just need a little extra warmth to keep going.

It’s easy to immediately start thinking about adding heaters or enclosures to your golf cart. But let’s face it, those can be a hassle. Installing heaters often involves extra heavy wiring, tapping into your cart’s electrical system, and some of them can drain your battery faster than you’d like. Enclosures, while they keep the wind out, can feel like overkill, making it hard to enjoy the open air and freedom of cruising around. Plus, there’s the setup and takedown, just a lot more effort than it’s worth for a little warmth.

That’s where this universal seat warmer comes in. It's the perfect solution for those unexpected cool nights. Just drape it over your seat bottom or tuck it under your current seat cover, plug it into your cigarette lighter, and enjoy a hassle free cozy ride. No need to stop or pack it in early, stay warm and keep that evening ride as comfortable as the day was. Find it on Amazon here

I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately from people who don’t have a cigarette lighter outlet on their golf cart but want to install one for accessories like seat warmers. Luckily, it’s a relatively simple process to wire one in, and I’ll walk you through it step by step. I’ll be referencing a common cigarette lighter outlet you can find on Amazon (attached link), but these instructions should work with most similar models.

To make everything work properly, you'll need to wire the cigarette lighter outlet into your cart’s electrical system using a pack voltage to 12V reducer if you dont already have one. This is because most golf carts run on 36V or 48V battery packs, but cigarette lighter outlets and accessories like seat warmers require 12V to operate safely. Here’s how you can do it:
    1. Install the Voltage Reducer: First, you'll need a 36V to 12V or 48V to 12V voltage reducer, depending on your cart’s battery pack voltage. The voltage reducer steps down the power from your battery pack to a usable 12V for the cigarette lighter.
    2. Wire the Reducer to the Battery Pack: Locate the main positive and negative terminals of your golf cart’s battery pack. Connect the input wires of the voltage reducer to these terminals, making sure to match the positive wire to the positive terminal and the negative wire to the negative terminal. This connection allows the reducer to step down the high voltage from the pack to 12V across all batterys evenly.
    3. Connect the Cigarette Lighter: Once the reducer is installed, connect the 12V output wires from the reducer to the corresponding positive and negative terminals on the cigarette lighter outlet. Be sure to run the cigarette lighter in a convenient place on your cart, like the dashboard, so it’s easy to access.
    4. Test the Setup: After everything is properly wired, test the system by plugging in your seat warmer or any other accessory. If the wiring is correct, the accessory should power up using the stable 12V from the reducer.
This setup will give you the correct voltage for the cigarette lighter for safe and reliable uses. Just be sure to confirm that the voltage reducer matches your cart’s pack voltage and you’ll be good to go!
