no charge

I have a G2 that will not charge. Have changed the starter/gen & voltage reg & checked about everything else that I could think of. The starter solenoid stays pulled in all the time when it's running, & I'm not sure if that's right or not. I find that if I remove power from the solenoid hold in coil after the cart is running, the generator charges to the 14+VDC like it should. Is there some component on the cart that is supposed to drop out the coil during run??

Here are a few things to check out. First make sure you have a good battery and it is under 3 years old. Next, make sure you have wired everything up in the correct way. There is a wiring diagram in the diagrams section here. I have seen people wire the starter backwards and it will work but not charge. The solenoid will stay clicked as long as the pedal is pressed.
