Gasoline recommended Reg. or HiTest

I was just advised today by an authorized Yamaha dealer that I was using the incorrect fuel in my 2002 G16 cart. I am using reg. unleaded 87 octane. they recommended HiTest gasoline and said they used it in all models old and new. Advised it would provide much better performance of my cart. I always believed that these carts were designed to run or reg. unleaded and long term use of HiTest would eventually do engine damage. Thoughts and advice please. Jim

Don't loose any sleep over it, your carts engine will have a very long life no matter what octane you use. High test just burns better, you will not do any damage with what they sell at the local gas station.

I run regular in all my carts, even my Yamaha. But don't get me wrong they are correct at the Yamaha dealer, you can notice a smoother purr to the engine and possibly a bit easier start ups when using super. I don't feel that it is a requirement though.
