93 yamaha gas does nothing when pedal is pressed

Thing ran great for a long time. Stopped in the yard for a bit and went to push pedal to go and nothing happened.

Assuming that the battery is fully charged and there are no loose / broken / corroded connections, along with nothing getting hot to the touch when you press the pedal, the problem could be electrical. The solenoid coil, when activated by closing the engine stop switch, closes the solenoid contacts, thus providing the starter with current.
