'83 Yamaha g1 problems

New to the forum and looking for some advice. I bought this cart last September and rode it for a few times at my campground. I covered it there and let it sit thru the winter. Now when you turn the key on and press the gas it won't rev up and move. I never charged the battery if that matters. Not sure where to start but I plan on going to it in a few days. Hope someone can point me in the right direction of what to look for. Thanks
