Given your experience and the type of use you have in mind, a 6 inch double A-arm lift would likely be the most beneficial for you. It provides the clearance needed for larger tires for both trail riding and rough camping sites. The enhanced suspension travel and stability will make your rides smoother and your cart more durable over time. As for eBay, it can indeed offer some of the best prices, but always make sure you’re buying from a reputable seller to avoid issues with quality or customer service. Sometimes, it's worth paying a bit more to buy directly from a trusted golf cart parts retailer so you get the support, installation instructions and warranty you might need.
When it comes to lifting your 1998 Yamaha G16 golf cart, you do have a few solid options: Both have their pros and cons, and your choice depends on budget and largely on how you plan to use your cart, especially for camping sites and trail riding.
Double A-arm lift kits are known for providing a smoother and more stable ride particularly over rough terrain. This type of lift replaces your stock front suspension with a new, more robust setup that includes two A-arms, providing better suspension travel and improved alignment. The double A-arm system is ideal for offroad use for enhanced durability and handling. If you’re planning on running rough trails or uneven ground frequently, the double A-arm lift is likely your best bet. It keeps your wheels better aligned and can handle the stress of offroad conditions better than a spindle lift.
Spindle lift kits, on the other hand, are simpler and usually less expensive. These lifts replace the stock spindles with larger ones, lifting the cart by raising the spindle height. While they are easier to install and maintain, spindle lifts can be less stable than A-arm lifts, especially on rugged terrain. However, they’re perfectly fine for general use, light trail riding, and navigating around a campsite. Spindle lifts can also be a bit more forgiving on your wallet, making them a good choice if you’re balancing cost and performance.
