can you buy a rebuild kit for a g1 drive clutch?on my cart when you take off you preety much have to leave cart floored or keep reving enging way up to get it moving and when it finnaly takes off it is like poping the clutch on a old truck...once it lauches forward you can then back off on gas pedel and it will stay moving...
also should cart sit still and idle?as soon as i take foot off gas pedel mine dies..
NEED HELP BAD..NEW AT THIS CARTING SO HAVE NO IDEAL HOW THEY SHOULD WORK..

Most golf carts are designed to shut off the engine when you take your foot off the gas pedal. This is normal behavior and helps to conserve fuel and reduce emissions, its also due to the nature of their useage on the golf course. The engine should start up again as soon as you press the gas pedal.

Given your description of the cart’s behavior, like having to rev the engine high to get it moving, followed by a sudden "popping" forward, it sounds like there might be issues with the drive clutch. Common problems include worn out weights, weakened or broken spring, and glazed or worn out sheaves. These issues can prevent the clutch from engaging smoothly resulting in the erratic behavior you're experiencing.

You can purchase a rebuild kit for the G1 drive clutch, which typically includes new weights, springs, and bushings. Rebuilding the clutch involves disassembling it, inspecting the components for wear, replacing the worn parts, and reassembling it. This can restore the clutch to proper working condition if the wear isn't too extensive. However, if the clutch sheaves are heavily grooved, cracked, or otherwise damaged beyond what a rebuild kit can fix, you might need to replace the entire drive clutch. Severe damage can prevent the clutch from operating correctly even after replacing the internal components.

In your yamaha G1, the drive clutch (or primary clutch) works in tandem with the driven clutch (or secondary clutch) to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. When you press the gas pedal, the drive clutch engages by using centrifugal force to move its sheaves together, which then grips the drive belt and transfers power to the driven clutch. The driven clutch then adjusts its diameter in response to the engine speed and load for smooth acceleration while maintaining proper engine RPMs.

i was having the exact problem you are describing, and all i did was take my secondary off on the rear end and the shaft where it goes onto was nasty with build up from the years i guess. i cleaned it off and the secondary and re greased where you put the shaft in the secondary. when i first got my g1 given to me i removed the clutch and the shaft was also very nasty with build up. but once i cleaned and regreased the secondary that's when i saw a difference. mine was so bad it was either all go or nothing and no one would ride on it until i fixed it. now its my go to cart if I don't need my carryall with dump bed. hopefully you find out the issue and let us know what you do to fix your issue.
