  • Lithium conversion

Newby here. I just finished converting my 96’ 36v Yamaha G16e to lithium. Everything went well, it didn’t seem to have full power after the conversion but probably 75% power. No it won’t go past a slow crawl. Battery is fully charged. Is it possible that the controller isn’t compatible with the lithium battery ? Any input would be appreciated.

Weak spots on the G16e are typically the FNR switch and the controller, typical signs when these controllers go is a gradually slowing movement that seems to go away when everything cools off. I would start by checking your voltage levels from the battery using a volt meter set to measure DCV and check to make sure your reading are above 36v when you press the pedal

I’ll look at that again. When I did the conversion a week ago I was getting 38.4v from the battery. I will go a little further and see what the voltage is at the motor with pedal depressed. thanks
