Once the brake is applied and you press the accelerator to move off, it lurches forward at a violent rate as the brake releases, this occurs with the batteries fully charged or half charged.
I have inspected the release lever and brake cable system, which all seems to be free and not binding. Could anybody provide me with assistance or direction to investigate and correct.

Several components like the speed sensor, throttle position sensor (TPS), and motor brushes can typically wear out in the Yamaha Drive and cause sudden lurching when you accelerate. Each of these parts plays a role in how smoothly the cart operates and if any of them start to go bad it can lead to erratic behavior.

The speed sensor keeps track of how the cart is moving and helps regulate the power the motor delivers. When this sensor fails, it can cause the cart to behave unpredictably, especially when transitioning from a stop. If the motor isn’t getting accurate feedback on the cart's speed it can result in a jerky or abrupt movement when you try to accelerate which sounds like the problem you're describing.

The throttle position sensor works by adjusting the amount of power sent to the motor based on how much pressure you apply to the accelerator. If there’s an issue with the TPS, it can cause the cart to respond too aggressively when you press the pedal resulting in that sudden lurch forward. A faulty TPS can make it feel like the cart is getting too much power all at once instead of gradually accelerating.

Lastly, the motor brushes can wear down and if they aren’t making good contact the motor may not function properly when starting from a stop. Worn brushes can lead to erratic or jerky movement because the motor isn’t engaging smoothly. If the brushes are in poor condition, that could also be a reason for the abrupt motion you're experiencing and could explain why your cart is behaving this way. Checking them out might help you pinpoint and fix the issue. If you have any questions or need further guidance feel free to ask!
