  • Voltage reducer

I have a 2015 Yamaha drive. It has a lithium battery pack with no battery post. Is there another place to wire in a voltage reducer other than the batteries themselves?
    Thanks, Ryan

There is a main pack positive and it will run to solenoid and run/tow switch. You’ll want to connect the main pack positive input of your converter directly to the pack positive terminal. For the negative connection, instead of wiring it to the battery, you should connect it to the Controller B- terminal. This helps with pulling the correct voltage without having to mess with the individual cells in the battery pack.

It’s a good idea to add a fuse on the [+pack voltage] converter wire as close to the pack positive as possible. This will protect the system from any electrical issues and it’s a simple step that’ll save you potential headaches down the road.

Now, the converter won’t draw enough current when idle to cause any problems during regular use, so it’s fine to leave it connected. But if you’re planning on storing the cart for a longer period, you can simply pull the fuse to cut off any drain from the system.

For even more control, the best option would be to wire a relay into the system, which would confirm that power to your accessories, like lights and anything else you’ve wired up, shuts off when the key is turned off. That way, you don’t have to worry about any unnecessary power draw when the cart isn’t in use. Let me know if you have any questions and I’d be happy to walk you through it further!
