To start diagnosing the issue, the first step is to verify that all the batteries and wiring are in good condition. Just because your golf cart has new batteries doesn't necessarily mean they are performing optimally. There are several reasons why new batteries might not be delivering the expected performance. For instance, batteries can degrade quickly if they’ve been excessively discharged or stored improperly before installation. If batteries are discharged too deeply, especially repeatedly, it can significantly reduce their lifespan and capacity. Additionally, there might be a chance that one of the batteries is defective right out of the box, which can affect the entire battery pack’s performance. You can use this guide to help you check the batteries performance.
Once you've confirmed that the batteries and wiring are in good condition, you can move on to checking the throttle position sensor (TPS). The TPS can impact the cart’s speed and overall performance. Im attaching the throttle position sensor test guide to this post.
Besides looking at the TPS, you should also take a close look at the speed sensor. The speed sensor measures the rotational speed of the motor and sends this information to the controller. This data helps the controller regulate the cart’s speed and acceleration smoothly. If the speed sensor is malfunctioning, it can lead to erratic speeds or even prevent the cart from moving at all. Im attaching the speed sensor test guide to this post as well. Lastly, make sure all components in the system are compatible and in good working order including the controller, motor and motor brushes. Any faults in these areas can also impact performance and battery life. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
