How to test a motor?

Can anyone tell me how to test just the motor on a 1992 Yamaha G9?

First make sure your batteries are fully charged. Now jack up the rear wheels so your Yamaha doesn’t go out of control and connect a 6 gage wire from B+ to A1 and another from B- to A2 on the motor. Your motor should spin at full power.

If not you will have to take steps to test the controller and solenoid.
