I have purchaed a 1977 harley davidson, it runs but the battery isnot charging, does anyone know a way to test the starter and generator??

If you would like to run a test on the generator first make sure that your cart is up on stands so you dont get hurt. Now to get started... disconnect the green wire from the DF terminal on the starter.
Now run a jump wire from the DF terminal to the ground. Have a volt meter on the battery terminals, start the cart and keep an eye on the voltage readings. It should start out around 12 volts and then quickly rise. Dont go past 16 volts!!!
Seeing the voltage rise means the generator is working fine.
