Gas 99 ez go charging issue

I have a 99 ez go with a charging issue. It just started this issue at night when you run the lights it kills the battery and then I have to get towed back home. I changed the starter generater thinking it was the issue due to I charge the battery and it works fine for a while then it will shut off then I am being towed. Now since the starter is new I need to find what the problem is. Please if anyone has an idea it will be appreciated so I am not spending money on parts I do not need. Thanks a newbie to this forum.

Check your voltage regulator and all wirings connected to it. Consider replacing if all else fails. One of the wires leading to the VR is ground. Check if firmly grounded.

Thanks for the info. a buddy of mine has a ezgo close in year as mine so I took his reg. off and put on my cart and it fixed my problem so now I am off to get a vr for my cart. Thanks for everything Joe
