Lack of get up and go

I have a 2002 Ez-Go gas cart.When I step on the gas it will start right away but it is very sluggish to take off.Once it gets going it runs great.Is there some so of adjustment that I could do to increase the starting torque?

Are you sure that the engine is actually starting up or is the motor just turning over because of the starter?

The motor starts up and runs,but it is just sluggish out of the hole.After it moves for a few seconds,it goes like a raped ape.It is just when I first put the gas pedal down it start up right away but it is seems to hesitate and have a lack of power
