I have an 81 Marathon with the EC25-2PG engine. I've looked in a service manual I downloaded, but can't find anything on what the compression should be. I have trouble starting out on a hill, It goes fine on the flats, but slows as I climb up a grade. The compression is 120. Someone told me it was caused by low compression & that usually the seals need to be replaced. I pulled the motor out and the seals look good. I would think there would be stains around them if they were leaking. Don't want to pop the head off if it's not necessary. What do you think?

Welcome to Golf Carts Forum,
Could be the case of a tired engine that needs rebuilding. You can test your diagnosis by throwing some automotive grade engine sealer onto and around the seals and ride. If you notice an increase in power that you did not have before on inclines you will positively know the seals are to blameRegards
