1983 ezgo 2 cycle engine

I have worked on a lot of small engines and this is a hurdle for me. my brother bought a golf cart and it started out a good deal now its like the battery isn't big enough to get the gas engine to start. is there a certain size battery it needs ?

another thing it seems to start the gas engine faster in reverse.

Hello, you could always go with a group 65 battery. Buy it new at any auto parts store. Any light truck battery will have plenty of power to crank for more than enough time.
