I just purchased an 84 EZGO Marathon electric cart. I am going to use it for the hunting woods. I was told today by a cart dealer that this cart is the coil type not the controller type. He said that this cart is not good for easing around and not good to lift and put bigger tires on it. He said that this would burn the coil up. Is this true?
Need Clarification Please!

He is correct, the reason is that your cart always uses the full battery power even when going slow... Except when you are going slow the cart redirects most of the juice to coils which heat up and dissipate the current. By going slow and keeping the coils hot eventually they will damage.
If you're going to do the lift, something you can look into is converting your cart into a controller cart. It is a bit of work, and you will need a controller, pot box and any linkage according.Regards
