  • 1994-1996 EZGO TXT Diagnostic cable

I'm wanting to know if there is a diagnostic cable on one this old. I seen a video where you can connect it to this chip and once the chip blinks you simply disconnect it and you're speed will be 25 mph. Thx

I'm looking for the check away to increase speed. I have brand new Trojan lithium ion batteries. 36V and new size 4 cables and it goes 10mph. Maybe 12. If like it to go at least 15-20.

    Thanks!

Based on what you're describing it sounds like you might be referring to Freedom chips which are specific to the Ezgo PDS (36v) models and offer different performance enhancements like speed, hill, and torque variations. They were essentially personality or mode programs designed to adjust the cart's behavior, and one of the first the industry had to offer in terms of custom programing. However, these chips didn't become available until later on. If you're looking for a significant speed increase there are a few options available.

Good call so far on the 4ga cables, thicker wires mean less resistance, which equals more power reaching your wheels. Upgrading to a 400a controller can really kick things into higher gear, especially if you pair it with a plum quick motor. But if you really want to go all out, consider bumping up your voltage to 48 volts. It's like giving your cart a shot of espresso, suddenly, it's got more torque and speed than ever before. It might cost a bit more, but imagine the thrill of zipping around at up to 20 mph.

Other than that, consider upgrading from the stock 18 inch tires to 20 inch tires even without a lift kit. This simple swap can actually result in a 11-15% speed increase. Larger tires have a greater circumference meaning they cover more ground with each revolution, however this increase in tire size may also impact the cart's acceleration and torque as larger tires require more power to move.

2000-2001 is when ezgo first introduced "molex" chips

As golfcartg mentioned, with the 4ga cables installed, the 400a controller upgrade would be the next step. Upgrading to 48v would also help but you'll need to upgrade the solenoid and charger to 48v as well. The original 36v motor can handle both 36 and 48 volts, swap in a speed motor if budget allows but not necessary.
