My cart quickly slowed down and stopped in the road. Bad electrical smell

I purchased a used 2014 RBZ (I think that’s the model) about a year ago. It is a road capable version that attains higher speeds. I was driving on our community road at full throttle when then cart suddenly slowed down quickly and was “dead”. I immediately noticed a strong electrical smell. The cart has an electrical brake so I could not move it. I called the local golf cart
store and they talked me thru the process of changing a couple of wire harnesses to disable the electronic brake. The local cart company is coming out tomorrow to look at my cart. Does anyone have any input as to what caused this condition to occur
