  • 2007 TXT controller

I just recently purchased a 2007 txt ezgo 36v. The main reason was to use it while deer hunting. The problem I'm having is going up a few hills. I have read in a few places that the controller will give me more low end torque. Any thoughts on the problem. I was also told that the batteries were new but i'm not buying it. Either that or the 14" wheels and tires are running down the batteries faster. In any case would a new controller help with the tire size also. Remember I'm a newby to the CART game and I'm ready to figure all this out. Thanks in advance.

The larger 14" tires reduce torque because they effectively change the gear ratio, requiring more power to turn and making it harder for the motor to maintain speed especially when climbing hills. You've done a great job considering an upgraded controller, which will certainly help improve low-end torque by allowing more current to flow to the motor. However, to address the issue more comprehensively, you might want to consider adding an additional 6V battery to upgrade your system to 42V. This would provide more power and improve performance, particularly with larger tires. If you think the batteries are on the way out, you do a full upgrade to 48v while keeping the original motor, but you'll need a controller and solenoid.

Returning to the original tire size can also significantly help with uphill climbing. Smaller tires have a lower rotational inertia and require less torque to turn, making it easier for your cart to maintain power and speed on inclines. Additionally, verifying your batteries are truly in good condition is important, as even slightly degraded batteries can severely impact performance. Checking the battery health with a load tester can provide a clear picture of their condition. Overall, combining a controller upgrade with either a voltage increase or a return to smaller tires, along with checking battery health will optimize your cart’s performance for your hunting needs.
