Your 1995 Medalist rebuild sounds like a nice project, rebuilding must have been a lot of work, but the results are surely rewarding!

The issue you're describing, where the motor jerks when power is applied, could be related to how the throttle input is functioning. The throttle input is a good first place to look because it controls how much power is sent to the motor, and any issues here could lead to the jerking you're experiencing.

In electric golf carts, the throttle input is responsible for sending signals to either the electronic controller or a resistor controlled system, depending on your cart's setup. If your Medalist has an electronic speed controller, the throttle input typically involves a potentiometer or an inductive throttle sensor (ITS) that sends a signal to the controller, dictating how much voltage to deliver to the motor. If there's an issue with the throttle sensor, such as a faulty connection, wornout components, or incorrect calibration, the motor may receive inconsistent signals, causing it to jerk as the power delivery fluctuates.

In a resistor controlled system, the throttle input is connected to a set of resistors and a speed control board that regulate the voltage reaching the motor. If there’s a problem with the resistors or the wiring, it can cause a similar jerking effect when power is applied. Given that you've already replaced the micro switch, the next step should be to thoroughly inspect the throttle input system. Check the wiring connections for any loose or corroded terminals, and test to make sure that the control board is functioning correctly. If you have any questions or need further assistance just ask!
