I am replace motor in 2003 ezgo pds cart. Bought new admiral mot-b2 but it has built in speed sensor in motor housing, old motor had sensor magnet. Cut magnet off to hardwire but existing wires are red, black and white where my new motor they are red, black and green. I assume it goes red to red, black to black, but what about the white to green?? Does anyone know about this??

The speed sensor monitors the motor's speed and controls functions like speed regulation and regenerative braking. Each wire has a specific purpose. The power wire (typically red) supplies voltage to the sensor to power its internal components. The ground wire (usually black) completes the electrical circuit necessary for the sensor to function. Finally, the signal wire often green or white, transmits the speed data to the controller. As the motor rotates, the speed sensor generates electrical pulses, which are sent via this signal wire to the controller.
The speed sensor generates the electrical signal as it detects the passing of metal teeth on a rotating disc inside the motor. This wire carries pulses, generated when the sensor detects the rotation of the motor's armature. The controller counts these pulses to calculate the motor's speed (RPM). Based on the RPM, the controller can adjust motor output or engage braking if necessary.
If the sensor or any of the wires malfunction, you'll know because it can lead to various issues such as erratic speed control or failure to apply regenerative braking as the controller will no longer be able to monitor the motor's speed accurately.
