  • Purpose of forward reverse cams and switches

A buddy annd I worked on a cart this pasr weekend for another person. We traced wires to figure out why the lights wouldn't work. We found the problem. In the process we discovered that neither of the micro switches on the forward reverse cams had wires hooked to them?? What are these switches for if you can rewire and eliminate them? TED

Sounds like you and your buddy had quite the journey troubleshooting that cart last weekend! Yes, it's indeed possible to bypass these micro switches. However, it's important to grasp their significance within the cart's overall safety framework. These microswitches in the shift lever act as checkpoints, making the cart remain stationary until certain conditions are met. They require specific actions like key activation, gear engagement, and throttle input before allowing movement. This serves to prevent accidental starts and mitigate potential hazards, especially in scenarios involving unexpected interactions, like a pet or child accidentally engaging the throttle.

While it's within the realm of possibility to reconfigure the wiring and eliminate these switches, any modifications should be undertaken with a thorough understanding. I hope this sheds some light on the situation. If you require further guidance or have any questions feel free to reach out.
