Ez Go charger--did I get screwed ?

I just bought a 2007 TXT 36 volt from a dealer. When he delivered it it came with this little Ez Go Textron charger about the size of a loaf of bread with a bunch of fins sticking out of one side. I told him I was expecting a more traditional loolking charger and he assured me this one is just fine. I have used it for a few days and it does charge the cart. It has blinking red/green lights instead of a meter.

Are these little chargers any good? Thanks for any advice.......

Although these have been a bit of a problem for Ezgo with high failure rate, IMO they are a better charger than the "traditional" ones you refer to.
The old style were a ferroresonant "dumb" charger and the new ones are a HF 3 stage "smart" charger.

I guess you're saying it's probably ok to hang onto the smaller charger?

Yes, when they are working, they are better than the one you wanted.
They are an OEM product made by Delta-Q for E-Z-GO.
