Cart Will Not Not Reverse

I am a Newbie, who has a 1996 Ez Go cart. One of my batteries post is broken and in trying to fix it I have a wire that runs from the front of the cart that should be connected to one of the terminus question is does it connect to a positive or a negative terminal. The cart goes forward. The back up alarm goes on, but the cart will not reverse.

Does anyone have battery wiring diagram for a 1996 EZ GO Cart????
