  • Brake Cables Smokin"

I have a 2006 Club Car DS. I believe to have a major short in the wiring system. Maybe someone has had this problem before. I replaced the brake cables because the brakes stuck. As I was taking off the old cables I noticed that the cables were melted. Also, the braided ground cable had burnt right through. I suspect it to be something in the starter, because it heats up all the positive cables when I start the cart. It will run, but cables start to melt. Just wondering if anyone hes heard of this problem. I hate to invest in a new starter, and find out it was something else. Thanks.

Clean up all the terminals, especially around the solenoid. Make sure the connections are all tight. And look for any stripped wires.

Club Cars have some wierd ground loops and will melt down when a ground strap is loose or broken. I had in insulate rear terminal of starter, too close to cable bracket.
