  • Someone please help me!!!

I have a gas golf cart at work, and it's been to the shop several times. It'll run fine with no hiccups for 20-30 minutes, then it stops moving until I take my foot off the gas pedal. It'll try to start, but I know it's not going to. I'm a novice to these kind of things, I know lawn mowers big and small, but not golf carts. If anyone can help, please do.

Welcome to the community! I’ll start by saying you’ve got a solid cart there, gas powered club cars are robust. But it doesn’t take much for them to start giving you trouble mostly when it comes to the carburetor. With today’s fuel blends, gasoline can start to go bad in about six months if the cart is left sitting. As it breaks down, it creates a varnish like coating inside the carburetor which clogs up those small passages. This leads to all sorts of issues like the one you’re describing, where the cart runs fine for a bit then stops. Since it's been to the shop a few times, I’d expect that they’ve already checked or replaced the carburetor, as that’s typically the first thing we'd look at for these symptoms.

That said, if the carburetor checks out, there could be other things at play, maybe an ignition issue or something with fuel delivery. But to get to the bottom of it, I’d like to ask you to take a video of the problem when it happens and upload it to YouTube. It’s amazing how much a quick video can help pinpoint what’s going wrong and it’ll give us a better idea of what you’re dealing with.

Given your background with lawnmowers, you’re already ahead of the game! A lot of the fundamentals are the same, just a few different quirks here and there.
