Most Club Car golf carts with the FE290 engine are equipped with fuel tanks that hold between 5 to 7 gallons of gasoline. When you factor in the engine’s fuel efficiency, you can estimate the driving range quite accurately. For instance, with a 5 gallon tank and the engines expected efficiency of around 50 MPG, you can expect to travel approximately 250 miles before needing to refuel. This is more than sufficient for a day of golf or extended use around a large property. If the engine is performing at the higher end of the efficiency range of around 70 MPG and you have a 7 gallon tank, you could cover up to 490 miles on a single tank.
Real world factors can influence this range. Driving conditions such as hilly terrain, carrying heavy loads, or aggressive driving can reduce fuel efficiency compared to driving on flat surfaces with minimal load. To maximize the fuel efficiency, checking and replacing the air filter, keeping the tires properly inflated, making sure the brakes are not hanging up, and following the normal maintenance recommendations is key. You want the engine to run at its best so it can provide you with the most efficient performance and extended time between refueling stops.
