I have a 2001 club car that randomly loses power. If I turn the key off and then back on it will starting running again. Usually I only need to turn the key off/on once but sometimes it's 8-10 times and sometimes more. I have replaced the coil and the ignition but still have the issue. It is totally random. Sometimes it will go all day (that's rare tho) with no issues and sometimes I have the problem 3-4 times in the span of 5 minutes. Any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like the issue you're experiencing could be related to the RPM limiter. The rpm limiter is a device designed to prevent the engine from exceeding a certain RPM (revolutions per minute), thus protecting it from damage. When the rev limiter malfunctions, it can cause symptoms similar to what you're describing, random loss of power and the need to cycle the ignition key multiple times to restore normal operation.
The rpm limiter may intermittently fail to allow the engine to reach its full RPM range before cutting off power unexpectedly. This could explain why the problem occurs randomly and varies in frequency. To diagnose whether the rev limiter is the culprit, you can try disconnecting the brown ground wire that typically connects to the rev limiter (see attached photo). By disconnecting this wire, you effectively disable the rev limiter. Test the golf cart under normal operating conditions to see if the problem still persists. If disconnecting the brown ground wire resolves the issue and the cart runs smoothly without power loss, then replacing the rev limiter is likely necessary. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
