Need some advice on changing the coil / igniter on a 02 club car pioneer f350 engine. Do I have to unbolt the engine and slide it forward to get the cover off the flywheel.

Short answer, yes. You do need to pull the motor to get at the coil, or at least get it most of the way out. What I do is remove the exhaust and drive belt, then unbolt the motor so you can tilt it up around 45 degrees, that lets you replace the coil without completely yanking the engine, though you're nearly there anyway. The cradle under the engine has side brackets that keep it from coming out all the way if it's still in the cart, so you might as well loosen all the bolts and slide it forward, turning it on the cradle for access. Personally, I prefer dropping the whole engine and transaxle combo for easier access to everything.
It's quite the job to change the ignition coil on these, so make sure it's actually bad before you tear into it. Always go for a Kawasaki OEM coil, or you'll end up doing this all over again soon. There's a rev limiter on the bottom front center of the block with a brown wire grounded to the bracket, if you disconnect that wire and get a spark, the limiter has failed, which is common. If there's still no spark, unhook the single black kill wire from the coil and cover it to prevent grounding, then check for spark again. If you do have spark now, you've got a problem in the kill circuit. No spark still means the coil is definitely bad. I'm attaching the detailed coil removal procedure to this post for you to review. If you have any questions feel free to ask!Attached Files:
