field flash starter generator on club car

I have a club car that does not charge and has a new starter generator installed, I checked output to battery when running and not charging, can I field flash the starter generator and how is this done. The seriel number is
AG9438402789

With your volt meter on the battery quickly touch the field wire to +12 volts meter should show higher voltage. If it does not charge may be bad regulator.

will I damage the voltage regulater if I do that, help

Kinda sounds like its bad now, but you could take out the field windings of the starter generator.
