  • 05 club car precedent idle problem HELP

I have a 05 club car precedent. I am having trouble with the acceleration. The cart will just take off when gas pedal is pressed. It takes off pretty quick. While driving I am able to adjust speed with the pedal. Main problem is it will not idle when starting down on the pedal. Please help I have tried a lot. New throttle cable. ?????

Let's start with the throttle system since you've mentioned throttle concerns. The carburetor assembly is the heart of your cart's engine. Inside this assembly lies the throttle valve, the component that regulates the airflow and fuel mixture entering the engine. Think of it like the gas pedal in a car, when you press the pedal, the throttle valve should smoothly open, allowing more air and fuel into the engine for increased speed and power. When you let off the pedal, the throttle valve should fully close. Disassembling the intake to check for any obstructions or damage is our first step. Look out for any signs of sticking or binding, the throttle valve should move freely without hesitation. If we spot any issues here, like cables, excess wear or sticking, a cleaning or replacement might be in order to get things back on track.

Now, let's say the acceleration problem still lingers. Don't worry. Beyond the throttle system we can troubleshot the broader combustion setup. Inspect several factors, the combustion system, fuel age, quality and delivery, clutches or differential/axles, and possibly the braking system – all playing their part in your cart's get go. Any hiccup in this ensemble could be the culprit behind the acceleration problems. Issues with clutches, differentials, axles, or even the braking system can throw a wrench into the works. Every component needs to be in sync for smooth operation.

Taking a video of the acceleration problem and posting it can be helpful for troubleshooting purposes. It allows us to visually observe the symptoms and behavior of the cart providing insights into the underlying issue. Plus, it helps eliminate any misinterpretation or ambiguity when describing the problem.
