club car backfires

has anyone had trouble w/ loud backfire from8 -10 year old club cars? We have several that backfire ...I MEAN LOUD!!! When you stop and/or change gears fron forward to reverse. Tried carbon cleaning ,but, ???

You have to make sure that the throttle flap is completely closed when your foot is off the pedal. If it is correct, you have to make sure that you have your carburetor jets tuned at factory specs.
