  • How to use 12 volt accessiories on a 48 volt Cart

My 2000 Club Car Ds uses 6 8voly batteries. I want to add some 12 volt accessories. How do I do that? One battery is not enough and two in series is too much.

When adding 12-volt accessories to a golf cart powered by 6 x 8-volt batteries, it's important to maintain a balance to avoid overloading or underutilizing the system.

One approach is to use a voltage reducer or converter. This device takes the higher voltage from your batteries (48 volts in this case) and reduces it to the 12 volts needed for your accessories. You'll connect the reducer to the full battery pack to ensure a balanced draw across the entire system.

A voltage reducer typically has input terminals connected to the positive and negative of your battery pack and output terminals for the 12-volt accessories. It effectively regulates the voltage to ensure the accessories receive a steady and safe 12 volts without overtaxing any individual battery.
