  • Navitas and solenoid upgrade

I have a 2005 Club car ds with the IQ system and I am upgrading to Navitas 440 and installing new heavy-duty solenoid. I have seen several videos and none use diode or resistor and I have read that they not needed if using the Navitas controller. Is that correct?

Ah, the joy of upgrades! The Navitas 440 is a great choice for your Club Car DS with the IQ system. When it comes to the diode or resistor question, it depends on the specific setup and the controller being used.

Generally, the need for a diode or resistor in conjunction with a new controller can vary based on the design of the controller itself. Some controllers, like the Navitas 440, are engineered with internal components that manage back EMF (electromotive force) or voltage spikes, which can eliminate the need for external diodes or resistors.
