I have a Club Car DS 1995 as a project. Started going through the repair manual to find issues but stuck on this one. Replaced the solinoid and can hear it click in and out. The rear wheels turn in opposite directions when it's on jacks. When wheels are on the ground the cart won't move at all because the wheels are still trying to turn in opposite directions. A friend has the 1996 version and he can push his around no problems. Any help would be appreciated.

What you're experiencing with the wheels turning in opposite directions while on jacks is pretty typical for a golf cart equipped with an open differential. The 1995 model might have a open differential, while your friend's 1996 version could have an posi differential. In an open differential, when the wheels are off the ground, the opposite wheel will spin in the opposite direction. This is due to the nature of the differential design, which helps with traction and stability when both wheels are on the ground.
As for the cart not moving when on the ground, it's possible there might be an additional issue beyond the differential behavior. Check for any other potential problems with the drivetrain that might be causing the lack of movement.Updated by golfcartg; December 17, 2023, 03:58 PM.
