shudders on acceleration after 3 miles

After driving my electric Club Car about 3 miles it starts to shudder on acceleration from a stop. I have to feather the pedal to get it to go. It gets worse the farther I go. The batteries are 2 1/2 yrs old and well maintained. Does anyone have an idea what can cause this? thanks

Could be a worn out potentiometer/v-glide would cause the same symptoms.
