1987 club car 36 volt faster in reverse than forward

hello I picked up a 1987 club car ds 36 volt cart it had no batteries or cables so I've had to try to figure this all out. the f&r diagrams I've found leave something to be desired that's for sure. Batteries are fully charged and the thing spins the tires in reverse but is gut less in forward im not sure if I have the two wired wrong or what. their is 1 wire from the 4rth resistors top pole that runs across the back of the cart to the drivers side that is not connected to anything it may go to the reverse buzzer but im not sure. seeing as how it doesn't buzz in reverse im thinking that it is what its for. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated..
