  • 1965 Club Car won't go

65, Club. Car was running, Mom hit some water, it ran fine for another 1000', until she stopped. 5 mins later car would not move. I have power, all solenoids are pulling in when key is on and pedal depressed. Any help with this???

Start with the solenoids and their connections, even though they click, moisture may have caused intermittent faults. Inspect the wiring and terminals for any signs of water intrusion, particularly around the solenoid assembly and battery terminals. If all looks well try jumping the main solenoid.

Next, check the resistors connected to the solenoids, as water can cause them to short or fail, disrupting power flow. Examine the motor thoroughly for water intrusion, focusing on the brushes which can be affected by moisture, leading to poor contact and motor failure. Additionally, inspect the microswitches for the accelerator pedal assembly and the forward/reverse switch for any moisture that could cause them to malfunction.

Pull and check your microswitches, set your multimeter to the continuity test mode. Place one probe on each terminal of the microswitch. When the switch is not pressed, the multimeter should show no continuity (no beep or reading). Next, press the actuator on the microswitch. If the switch is functioning correctly, the multimeter will show continuity (a beep or a reading) when the actuator is pressed. If the multimeter does not show these results, the microswitch is likely faulty and needs replacement. Let me know if you have any questions!
