1995 Club Car - Hesitation and Sputtering during acceleration

I have a 1995 Club Car that has started to hesitate/sputter when accelerating. It's been doing this intermittently. When I first noticed the problem, the cart was unresponsive when switching it in reverse. It would not move or make the reverse buzzing sound. When I switched it back to forward I experienced the same problem. The hesitation/sputtering was extreme at first, then went away, and now has returned but not as bad. Feels like a car about to run out of gas.

Does anyone have any ideas?

From the information that you have given it sounds like a bad f/r switch, take it apart and clean it and clean and check all battery cables to the f/r, to the motor and batterys
