  • 82 club car new batts. won't run

I have an 83 club car that i put new batteries in and it still will not run, I am not hearing any clicking from the solenoids when i push on the gas pedal. Any ideas what to check? The only clicking i hear is when i push down very slowly on the pedal, i hear 5 faint clicks.

I found the problem, it was a broken wire.

Thanks for the update, glad it all worked out.

In your series circuit the total voltage is divided equally among the batteries, each battery contributes 6 volts to the overall 36 volts. If there is a bad connection or broken wire in the series circuit, it creates resistance, hindering the flow of current through the circuit. This resistance causes voltage drops across the faulty connection or wire, reducing the effective voltage available to the system. The extent of this voltage drop depends on various factors such as the severity of the fault and the current flow. In some cases, the voltage drop can be significant, reducing the effective voltage delivered to the motor below the required threshold, typically around 32 volts or lower. The motor may experience reduced performance or fail to operate altogether.

As for the faint clicks, the solenoids operate at system voltage, which in this case is 36 volts. If there is a bad connection or broken wire within the battery circuit, the voltage delivered to the solenoid drops below the threshold required for proper operation. For example, if the voltage drops to around 32 volts or lower, the solenoid may only partially engage, resulting in a faint click sound as its internal components attempt to move.

Congratulations on your new batteries! Always regularly check water levels, keep them clean, and store them fully charged and tendered in a cool, dry place during the offseason.
