more power?

I have an 08' CC Precedent, 48 volt. what exactly needs to changed/upgraded to give the cart more power? For things such as going thru sand, climbing hills,, pulling a small black water trailer, etc. I took it to the beach this weekend, and it has plenty of power for small hills and very very light sand, but anything over a few inches deep causes it to stall out. The tires don't spin, it just won't move. Also, what do I need to be careful with as far as pushing the gas with the tires not spinning. Someone told me pushing the gas with the cart not moving was harmful. Any suggestions? Thanks.
