I have one or two splices in my low volt wiring should I hunt down new ends to the o.b.c. I have respliced them with ones and used heat tubes to seal them?

Here's my formula for a good, water tight seal.

      Supplies needed:

shrink tube (There are some types with adhesive in them. I tend to shy away from those simply to make disassembly easier if there's a problem)

      NON-insulated butt splice connectors
      silicone RTV sealer
      a good quality crimper
soldering iron ( I use the butane fueled style)
lead tin alloy flux core solder.

Slide the shrink tube on the wire.
      Connect the ends and crimp.
      Solder the crimped connections.
Liberally apply the silicone, this gets a little messy.
Slide the shrink tube over the connection and heat the tube.
You should see silicone oozing out the ends of the tube.
When the sealer sets up, you will have a water tight connection.
