  • EZGo Liberty Tank

We bought a 2023 EZ Go Liberty. It rides like a tank. Does anyone know of any modifications or kits available to improve the ride? Are the front spindles exclusive to this model or possibly common to other models? Somewhere between the current ride and a Cadillac would be an immense improvement.

I totally get where you're coming from with the ride on your Liberty feeling like a tank. You're not alone, many golf cart manufacturers, especially with the switch to lithium batteries, didn't quite nail the ride quality. Here's the scoop, lithium batteries are way lighter than the old lead acid ones, which can make the ride feel a bit bumpier and less stable. To top it off, the Liberty was built and advertised to handle a heavy payload and withstand rough terrain, amplifying the poor quality ride when riding solo.

Now EZGO tried to fix this by adding steel plates under the center chassis on some models. It helps balance things out a bit, but there's still room for improvement. Lucky for you, the leaf springs on your Liberty are threelayered, which means you've got some wiggle room to play with. You can take out layers to soften the ride.

A common question, what's the best overall way to make your ride smoother without breaking the bank? Well, it depends on what you're after. If you're all about that comfy ride, try removing a layer or two from the leaf springs. It's a fix that won't cost you much. On the other hand, if you need both a cushy ride and got plenty of juice to keep going, you might have to get creative with adding some weight to the cart, running thicker tires on smaller rims, or letting some air out of the tires. But just be aware it might affect how long you can cruise around on a single charge.
